Local residents taking advantage of early voting

Hunt County – Early voting continues to speed along in Hunt County. After two days more than 900 people have cast their vote. Nearly 500 ballots were cast yesterday. Early voting continues through February 29.

Commerce screens citizens at Tuesday council meeting

Commerce – The city of Commerce is taking the necessary steps toward protecting it citizens. Those attending Tuesday night's city council meeting were properly screened by a Commerce Police Officer before entering the city's Council Chambers. The officer was also on hand during the meeting.

A.C. Williams project assessed Monday

Commerce – The Commerce School Board has given authorization toward the next phase of the new A.C. Williams Elementary School project. Board members Tuesday gave architects with Claycomb Associates the go ahead to proceed with the completion of contract documents. An official with the company said Monday plans are 95% complete, and expects full completion by March 3.

Early voting Tuesday for Texas Primaries

Hunt County – It is early voting time for Texas residents. Tuesday is the first day early votes can be cast for the March 4 Democratic and Republican Party Primaries. Deadline is February 29.

New dress code to be implemented by Commerce School District

Commerce – The Commerce School Board has approved a standardized dress policy for its two elementary schools. The decision was made by a 4-2 vote during Monday night's monthly board meeting in the Commerce Middle School Library.

Bond reduciton sought for local man

Greenville – A murder suspect is again seeking a bond reduction. Andreas Morris is expected to appear in court today. He's been charged with murder in connection a shooting death of a Greenville man last summer.

Greenville – Plans are in place for some new homes to be built just outside the Greenville city limits. The city's Planning and Zoning Commission is expected tonight to consider preliminary and final layouts for the latest homes in the Wilson Estates Subdivision
