Commerce – A traffic stop along I-30 just east of Sulphur Springs Saturday ended with state troopers making a sizeable drug bust. A Dallas couple was arrested after troopers found 4 pounds of cocaine, PCP, ecstasy, and marijuana in their Chevy Suburban.

The A&M-Commerce Lions finish up a three-game home stand tonight in the Field house on the A&M-Commerce Campus. It's a double-header against Cameron University, with tip-off for the women at 6 and the men at 8pm.
Commerce – The 98th Annual Commerce Chamber of Commerce Banquet is set for Thursday, February 8th in the Memorial Student Center on the A&M-Commerce campus. Dancing with the Stars is the theme, and several couples will be performing different types of dances for the audience.

Commerce – The Commerce Animal Shelter will be holding an open house this Thursday, February 1st. The open house will be held from 3pm to 6pm with the goal of finding homes for some of the animals in the shelter. A recently formed local non-profit organization, Prevent A Litter, Inc, or PAL, will also be giving vouchers out for low-cost vaccinations and spay or neutering.
Commerce – It was a clean sweep for A&M-Commerce Lions basketball last night. Both the men's and women's teams notched wins in the make-up games over Central Oklahoma. The men made it a interesting, taking a 64-63 lead with just 3.7 seconds left, while the women dominated in a 90-75 victory.
The teams finish up a three game home stand Wednesday when they host Cameron.
Commerce – The Commerce School Board will be holding public meetings this week to gather public input into creating a standardized dress code for Commerce ISD. The Board has adopted a timeline for possible implementation of standardized dress, and will review the timeline at its February 16th regular meeting.
Commerce, TX – Equipping rural high school students and teachers around Texas A&M University-Commerce with the tools to succeed in math and science is the purpose of Project STEEM. An update on the new program was presented to university administrators and members of the Greater Texas Foundation, which provided a one and a half million dollar grant.
Hopkins County – State Troopers seized 50 pounds of marijuana and took two Tennessee men to jail earlier this week after a routine traffic stop along Interstate 30 near Sulphur Springs. The incident began just before 8pm Tuesday when the two men were stopped for speeding. After displaying nervous behavior, the trooper asked if he could search the vehicle, and the men said yes, but only the front part of the car. After identifying a suspicious odor, the trooper searched the trunk under probable cause and found 50 pounds of marijuana.
