Local officials seeking assistance in new project

Greenville – Greenville is looking for some help in building a new waste water treatment plant. The city is currently searching for firms to perform surveying for the $20 million project. Earlier this week they hired a firm to help with the necessary upkeep of its current plant.

Greenville – There may be some concerns over the Cobisa project in Greenville. Vice President of the Houston-based Cobisa Corporation said yesterday the company has still not found a partner to help pay for the project.

Record-setting business for local merchants

Greenville – Recent business in Greenville has been very positive. According to a report by the Texas State Comptrollers Office, November sales reached their highest mark ever. January sales were also impressive with levels better than both last year and in 2006.

Newest A&M-Commerce Dean getting settled in

– The position of Dean at the College of Education and Human Services was recently filled at Texas A&M University Commerce. Dr. Brent Mangus began on January 2. He's spent the last 22 years at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, most recently serving as Associate Professor in the Department of Kinesiology.

Lack of state funding could damper local highway projects

Hunt County – There's a money crunch for some upcoming highway projects in Hunt County. A recent statement shows the Texas Department of Transportation is reducing its budget for the 2008 Fiscal Year by more than $1 Billion.

Greenville pet owners beware...

Greenville – A rabies incident has been reported in Greenville. Local residents are asked to take extra precautions with their pets after a rabid skunk was found. Any suspicion of rabies should be reported to the Greenville Animal Control Division.

School dress code positive in first semester

– The dress code policy at Commerce ISD enters its second semester next week. Last year the school board approved a policy enforcing a standardized dress for the district's middle and high schools that includes grades 6-12. Under the policy, students must wear solid colored shirts that must be tucked in, with either khaki or blue pants and a belt.
