Water off in downtown Greenville

Greenville – It may take some time to get a drink of water in downtown Greenville tonight. Crews working on the streetscape project will be tying into water lines along Lee Street starting at 5pm this evening. Some customers will lose water, while all customers downtown could experience a drop in water pressure.

Zoning approved for new apartment complex in Greenville

Greenville – Zoning for a large apartment complex has been approved by the Greenville City Council. The complex will be built just east of the intersection of Wesley street and Jack Finney Blvd.

Two raises for Greenville firefighters

Greenville – Greenville firefighters will get TWO raises next year. The Greenville council approved a plan to give firefighters an 8% raise at the beginning of the fiscal year, and another 8% raise in April. The move is to bring firefighter salaries in line with other similar sized cities.

Man stabbed after failed robbery

Hopkins County – A Hopkins County man remains in intensive care after being stabbed during a robbery attempt Saturday. The 54 year old man had left his house just after midnight Saturday after an argument with his wife. As he was walking, a car pulled up behind him. The man said a Hispanic male got out of the car and demanded his wallet. When the man refused, he was stabbed once in the lower abdomen and the car pulled off.

Investigators look for info in Quinlan hit and run

Quinlan – A suspect is being sought in a fatal hit and run accident near Quinlan. Frank Schwing of Dallas was killed as he was walking along Highway 34 when he was hit in the back of the head by a rearview mirror. Anyone with any information should contact the DPS in Greenville.

Greenville – Volunteers are aiming to clean up downtown Greenville this weekend. Keep Greenville Beautiful is organizing the event from 8am to noon Saturday morning. Organizers say they'll need all the help they can get.

Another man charged with murder in Greenville

Greenville – Another man has been charged with murder in connection with three recent homicides in Greenville. Derek Obrien Jackson was taken into custody Saturday. He is one of four people alleged to have been involved with the July shooting deaths.

Greenville man arraigned for stabbing

Greenville – A Hunt County man has been arraigned on family violence charges. Charles Edward Johnson Jr. of Greenville has pleaded not guilty to using a pocket knife to attack a female victim at a residence in Greenville. Johnson has 10 prior felony convictions in the past 14 years.
