Weather claims lives of area couple

Honey Grove – Two Paris residents were killed Monday in a weather-related accident along Highway 82 in Honey Grove. 58 year old Anthony West and his 46 year old wife, Debra, were killed when the car they were in hydroplaned and hit an oncoming truck. Both were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the truck was taken to Paris Regional medical Center with back pains.

Bonds reduced in Commerce armed robbery case

Greenville – Bonds have been lowered in connection with an armed robbery in Commerce last week. Melroy Anderson Jr. had his bonds reduced for charges of aggravated robbery and possession of a controlled substance. Anderson and two other men were arrested after an armed robbery at a residence on Solomon Drive in Commerce. Baggies of crack were found in their car and reports also say one of the men forced a woman at the residence to perform a sex act on him at gunpoint.

An even dozen felonies

Greenville – A Hunt County man has made it an even dozen felony charges. Andre Dewayne Boyd of Greenville has been arraigned on three more felony charges, adding to a long list of property theft charges. This time, he faces car theft and burglary charges.

Greenville Council backs City Attorney

Greenville – The Greenville City Council is standing by City Attorney Robert Scott. Mayor Tom Oliver issued a statement of support for Scott after a short closed-door meeting last night. Scott was recently arrested on DWI charges.

Arraingment held in Campbell Store robbery

Greenville – An arraignment has been held in connection with an alleged armed holdup in Hunt County. Joshua B. Robinson has pleaded not guilty in the armed holdup of the Campbell store on April 23rd.
