Greenville council clears agenda

Greenville – Lots of work wrapped up for the Greenville City Council Wednesday. The council accepted a new marquee sign for the municipal auditorium and approved some zoning changes for a retail development behind Presbyterian Hospital.

Adam Ward sentenced to die


Adam Ward was sentenced to death by lethal injection Tuesday for the 2005 shooting death of Commerce Code Enforcement Officer Michael 'Pee Wee' Walker.

Defense rests in Adam Ward trial

Greenville – Jury deliberations could begin today in the Adam Ward capital murder trial. The defense and prosecution rested and closed the cases yesterday. Now, the jury will decide if Ward receives life in prison or death by lethal injection.

Names in Lights

Greenville – Acts appearing at Greenville's Municipal Auditorium may soon have their names in lights. The Greenville City Council is set to consider accepting a lighted marquee tonight, donated by the Friends of Mainstreet organization.

Help save Internet Broadcasting

United States –

Tuesday was a Day of Silence, as thousands of radio stations turned off their internet streams in protest of new royalty rates scheduled to go into effect July 15th. The new rates would crush most small webcasters, increasing rates many, many times over what they currently are. Further, the new rates are retroactive to January 2006, forcing stations to pay rates they never knew existed.

Greenville – Major crimes continue to decrease in Greenville. Robberies and automobile thefts are up, but the crime rate overall is down over this time last year.
