Body of missing woman found

Hopkins County – The body of a Winnsboro woman missing since May 31st has been found off Highway 11 near Sulphur Springs. The car of 89 year old Jamie Milner was spotted in thick brush by crews trimming trees in the area, and reported to police. The Hopkin's County Sheriff's office investigated and identified the car as Milner's, last seen leaving the Sulphur Springs Wal-Mart. An autopsy has been ordered to determine the exact cause of death.

Open House next week

Commerce – The City of Commerce will be hosting an open house next Thursday for the New City Hall and new Police/Fire Complex. The open house will begin at 4pm at City Hall on Alamo Street with comments from Mayor Sheryl Zelhart, and later move to the Police/Fire Complex. Tours of both facilities will be given until 6pm and everyone is encouraged to attend.

Fatal wreck in Commerce

Commerce –

A major accident on Highway 11 in Commerce claimed a life yesterday morning. 49 year old Karen Griffin of Commerce was killed when her Ford Focus struck a Chevy ton pick-up driven by 42 year old Jerry Gabbart of Cumby. Griffin had swerved off the road to avoid a bucket that fell off an unidentified truck and overcorrected when she returned to the roadway. Her vehicle was thrown across to the opposite lane and she hit the truck head-on. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Hunt County Fair rolls along

Greenville – The Hunt County fair is in full swing today. Gates and exhibits open at 4pm, the midway starts the thrills at 5, and today has the junior pet show and homemade ice cream entries, with live music hitting the main stage at 8pm.

Ward trial continues

Greenville – Testimony during the Adam Ward capital murder trial reveals Ward may have some serious mental issues. A psychiatrist for the defense said Ward was psychotic and delusional when the shooting of Michael Walker occurred. The jury also heard testimony from Adam Ward's father, who said Walker was standing the entire time he was being shot, refuting earlier testimony.

More charges filed in Sulphur Springs dragging

Sulphur Springs – A 25 year old Hopkins County man has been indicted on new charges stemming from a bar fight where he allegedly dragged a man down the road causing massive facial injuries. Judson Talbert Weaver was indicted Monday for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and failure to stop and render aid. Weaver has previously been arrested for aggravated assault, and posted bond.
