----The Wolfe City masonic Lodge is accepting contributions to be donated to hospitals in Louisiana that are treating injured children of Hurrican Katrina.
Commerce – Congressman Ralph Hall and State Representative Dan Flynn recently met with local political leaders at the Northeast Texas Mobility Council meeting. Also attending the meeting was A&M-Commerce President Dr. Keith McFarland, and former president Bub McDowell to discuss recent legislation with impact in this area. A federal highway bill was recently passed, and with efforts by Hall, Interstate 30 from Dallas to Memphis was designated as high priority. The designation could mean major funding for projects along the roadway.
Commerce – The A&M-Commerce Lions football team dropped their first game of the season Saturday to the Southern Arkansas Muleriders, 14-7. The game was the debut of transfer quarterback Kyle Westerberg. Westerberg finished the night 16 of 36 for 161 yards, which included a 35 yard scoring strike to Cedric Patt to provide the Lion's only touchdown of the day.
Fannin County – A Greenville woman was one of the victims of a shooting at a church in Fannin County yesterday. 50 year old Holly Love Brown was one of four people shot and killed in Sash when Freddie L. Crenshaw began his rampage.
