Kearney, NE – The first Elite Eight appearance for the A&M-Commerce women's basketball team was a nip and tuck affair that fell short as Clayton State (GA) defeated the Lions 60-55.

Cowhill Chili-Fest starts today!

Commerce – The 4th Annual Cowhill Chili Fest and BBQ Cook-Off begins this evening in downtown Commerce. The downtown square will be closed off beginning this afternoon with live entertainment starting at 5pm with performances from the Commerce Idol winners. A Jitterbug dance contest follows with Miles from Nowhere on stage with live music until Midnight.

Park Street closed

Commerce – The Texas Department of Transportation has closed parts of Park Street in Commerce. TxDOT is laying sewer lines in the area. A detour has been established and is expected to last about two weeks. Park Street is closed from the 800 block to O'Neil Street.

Ride the bus to see the A&M-Commerce women's basketball team at the NCAA Championship!

Commerce, TX – There will be a chartered coach bus going to Kearney, Nebraska to provide you the opportunity to see the Texas A&M University-Commerce women's basketball team at the Elite Eight.

The bus cost is $75 per individual. To reserve a seat, contact the A&M-Commerce Athletic Department at (903) 886-5558. A minimum of 45 passengers is necessary for the bus to go and a maximum of 56 seats are available. The 45 seats must be filled by 2:00 pm on Friday.

No Commerce School Board Election?

Commerce – There may be no school board election in Commerce. Only incumbents Bob McLeroy, Donna Tavener, and Russell Armstrong have filed for the three places up for election. Filing closed Monday, and unless someone files as a write-in candidate, the election for the Board of Trustees will be cancelled. The Commerce ISD will still have the $14 million bond election.

City Hall open

Commerce – The New City Hall is up and running in Commerce. However, there are still some unfinished details to smooth over in the coming weeks according to City manager Bill Shipp.

SHIPP:For all practical matters, we'll be pretty close in a week or two. Will there still be small things still going on? Probably. The two main things are the window coverings and signage. None of the signage is up yet.

Heroes welcome for A&M-Commerce women's basketball team

An enthusiastic crowd welcomed the Texas A&M University-Commerce women's basketball team home Tuesday afternoon.






Gone for nearly a week, the Texas A&M University-Commerce women's basketball team came home to cheering fans after winning the NCAA Division II South Central Regional in St. Joseph, Missouri.

Commissioners drop Sheriff's bond case

Hunt County – Hunt County Commissioners have voted to drop a bond suit against Hunt County Sheriff Don Anderson. The Court and the Sheriff have been involved in the dispute for more than a year, but commissioners felt it would be unwise to spend more money for something they weren't sure they could prove.
