In conjuction with the Radio/Television Division of Texas A&M University-Commerce, and with help from students, faculty, and staff across campus, KETR presents We Remember.
The one-hour special features veterans from the Northeast Texas area that served in World War II, Korea, Vietnam, and all the way through to today's modern solider and their experiences in the military.
Commerce – The Moving Wall will be on display on the A&M-Commerce campus 24 hours a day through Sunday afternoon. The Moving Wall is a half-size replica of the Vietnam War memorial in Washington D.C. and displays the names of the over 58,000 soldiers that died in the war. The Wall appears on campus as part of the 15th Annual Veteran's Vigil to mark Veteran's Day tomorrow.
Commerce – The Commerce Tigers play their final home game of the season tonight, as they host the Quinlan-Ford Panthers. A 16 year playoff streak for Commerce may come to an end this season, but a small chance yet exists for the Tigers to make the playoffs. If the Tigers win over the Panthers and Wills Point loses to Nevada-Community, Commerce would be the third team from District 10-3A to enter the playoffs. The top two teams are Royse City and Emory-Rains, and they play tonight for the District Title.
Commerce – The Commerce Tigers were unable to take a much-needed win Friday, and fell to Wills Point, 36-20. Both teams needed the game to keep playoff hopes alive.
Wills Point jumped to an early 14-0 lead, but Commerce battled back after forcing a fumble deep in Wills Point territory. Commerce notched a touchdown, and put up another to tie the score at 14 at halftime.
Texas – It is Election Day tomorrow, as voters head to the polls for the general election. Decisions will be made on United States House of Representatives and Senate, the next Texas Governor will be chosen, and many tight local races will be decided. Texas Secretary of State Roger Williams has predicted a 36% voter turnout for tomorrow.
Polls will be open from 7am to 7pm Tuesday. Tomorrow evening, KETR will have live election coverage starting at 7pm.
Greenville – A Greenville man has been put on probation after pleading guilty to aggravated assault in an accident that injured a Greenville Police officer. 53 year old Rutilio Moreno reportedly had almost three times the legal limit of alcohol in his blood when his truck collided with a Greenville patrol car from behind. Moreno then reportedly left the scene, and traveled 11 blocks before being pulled over by another officer. He was charged with aggravated assault against a peace officer and failure to stop and render aid.
Sulphur Springs – A Sulphur Springs woman is hospitalized with serious injuries after being struck by an 18-wheeler. The woman was walking across Interstate 30 near exit 127 when she was hit. The driver of the truck attempted to take action to avoid the woman, but was unable to do so. She is hospitalized with serious leg injuries and lacerations.
