Big benefit in Sulphur Springs Saturday

The fundraiser is Saturday, April 19th, from noon until 9 p.m. at the Hopkins County Civic Center.

Texas A&M University-Commerce football Saturday!

Commerce –

The Texas A&M University-Commerce football team will culminate the end of its spring practice with an intra-squad scrimmage at Memorial Stadium on Saturday at 2 p.m.

The contest will feature the first and second-string squads against one another for a four quarter, 12-minute running clock throughout the scrimmage. Rules will be enforced as game officials will also be working the contest. Admission is free and food will be available for purchase.

Quarterly financial report given at Commerce City Council meeting

Commerce – The financial status of the city of Commerce is in good standing following a quarterly financial report during Tuesday's council meeting. Director of Administrative Services and Interim City Manager Marc Clayton says as of March 31, Commerce has spent 2% less than what they budgeted. Based on these and other figures, Clayton says the city should be in good shape for the remaining six months of the fiscal year.

Hunt County death row inmates could soon receive execution dates

Hunt County – A Supreme Court ruling may have an impact on Hunt County. Wednesday's ruling by the high court determined the method used to administer death by lethal injection as a punishment for capital murder is constructional. That mean three defendants in Hunt County who've been sentence to death row may soon receive execution dates. Texas is one of several states who administer death by lethal injection.

New Boston man arraigned on child endangerment charges

Hunt County – One of three suspects charged with child endangerment in Hunt County has been arraigned. Alton Williams of New Boston was arraigned Tuesday. During a traffic stop last June, police found two children riding in the storage area of a U-Haul. According to officers, there was no way for the children to get out of the rear of the U-Haul in the event of an emergency nor was there any type of food or air circulation.
