Commerce – The Texas A&M University-Commerce Alumni Relations Department is reminding students of the opportunity to apply for the Alumni Legacy Scholarship for fall 2011/Spring 2012.

The deadline to submit an application is Tuesday, February 15.

Greenville – The Greenville City Council is again calling on L-3 to drop its litigation against the City.

Officials took no action following a closed door executive session Monday. The council was schedule to discuss the filing last week by L-3 of a temporary restraining order against the City, preventing the filing of a re-plat of Majors Field Municipal Airport. They were also scheduled to discuss the duties and responsibilities of the city manager and city attorney.

Commerce – Weather permitting; a new business geared toward serving Texas A&M University-Commerce students, among others, is scheduled to open Wednesday.

Plain and Fancy Sandwich Shoppe will fill the vacancy at 1708 Monroe Street, across the street from Prairie Crossing. The business has been in operation in Sulphur Springs for the last 14 years, and was once located in downtown Commerce.

Property owner Mike Oglesby says bringing Plain and Fancy back to town is part of an ongoing effort to attract students.

Bonham – Nearly all are area school districts are either closing or delaying the start of school Wednesday in the wake of more snow.

The state encourages districts to plan for at least two bad weather days each year, they then need to apply for a waiver to make up for any additional days lost.

Following Wednesday's closing, Bonham ISD has now cancelled class six days this school year; accounting for one of highest totals in the area. Superintendent Sonny Cruse says making those days up becomes very difficult.

– With the threat of another 3-5 inches of snow to hit Northeast Texas overnight and tomorrow, crews are preparing the roadways for safe travel.

The Texas Department of Transportation has been busy over the last couple weeks, distributing de-icing materials and sand on roadways, bridges and overpasses.

Wolfe City – Dr. Lavelle Hendricks is Tuesday's guest speaker at the 2nd Annual Black History Month Presentation through the Wolfe City Chamber of Commerce.

The event begins at 6:30 P.M. in Wolfe City High School Auditorium.

An assistant professor of counseling at Texas A&M University-Commerce, Dr. Hendricks is also the pastor at East Caney Baptist Church and has spoken to many groups about the legacy of Martin Luther King.

Greenville – 27-year-old Kenneth Eugene Katzenmaier, of Caddo Mills, has also been indicted on two counts of unauthorized use of a vehicle and attempted escape. He pleaded not guilty to all 18 charges Monday.

Katzenmaier is alleged to have committed the burglaries between October 6 and November 29, 2010.

He was arrested in December after found in possession of a large amount of stolen property and methamphetamine.
