Air Ambulance team provides training for medical personnel


Greenville – Greenville's Air Evac Lifeteam recently held its Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) class for about 10 area nurses and paramedics.

The training course helps individuals develop skills needed to resuscitate and stabilize infants and children in respiratory failure, shock or cardiopulmonary arrest.

The service provides emergency health care and rapid medical transport to rural communities, plus outreach education classes for medical personnel.

Four stores in violation during tobacco sting


Greenville – A recent tobacco/alcohol sting operation in Greenville found four stores in violation of selling the products to an underage operative.

The busts occurred at Max A Mart #2 and #4, RK Mark and Tiger Mart on Tuesday.

According to a press released, the minor attempted to buy tobacco at 23 local retailers and also attempted to buy alcohol at seven local retailers.

Democratic party members to meet in Commerce


Commerce – The City of Commerce will host members of the Hunt County Democratic Party Saturday for its county convention.

One of the main objectives of the meeting is to choose delegates for the Texas Democratic Party's state convention, to be held June 25 and 26 in Corpus Christi.

The convention will take place Saturday at 10 a.m. at Commerce City Hall, 1119 Alamo St. More information is available at 903-455-2744.

Keep Commerce Beautiful organization meeting set


Commerce – Residents are encouraged to attend an organization meeting of the Keep Commerce Beautiful (KCB) Committee Thursday at City Hall.

The committee will be directed by Former Chamber Manager Barbara Kersey, with Tylene Gearhard, co-directing. According to Kersey, Keep Commerce Beautiful will be partnering with the Commerce Beautification Commission, who will serve as an advisory group.

Elderly Hopkins County woman found overnight


Hopkins County – The elderly Hopkins County woman reported missing Tuesday night was found Wednesday morning after a 13 hour ordeal.

85-year-old Lola Pearl Andre had last been seen around 8:20 p.m. on Tuesday walking along CR 1197 near Arbala.

Andre is said to suffer from dementia.

Bond reduced for Royse City mam


Greenville – One of two bonds have been reduced for a Royse City man, charged with major felony theft.

Yesvani Dominguez-Bacallo is alleged to have stolen a trailer and other merchandise.

A search warrant served earlier this month at a residence along CR 2472 revealed the mobile home, which Dominguez-Becallo and his family had been living, had been reported stolen by the Mesquite Police Department.

A tractor and two semi trailers found on the property were also reported as stolen.

Standoff in Hunt County ends peacefully


Hunt County – An armed standoff, which began as a reported hostage situation east of Greenville, ended peacefully Tuesday.

The suspect was identified as 25-year-old Anthony Dominguez, who already had an outstanding warrant pending for aggravated assault/family violence.

Hunt County Sheriff Randy Meeks said Dominguez had held a female acquaintance against her will and had fired multiple rounds before law enforcement officers arrived on the scene.

Council votes against personnel discussion


Commerce – An attempt to adjourn into executive session to discuss personnel issues failed Tuesday night in Commerce by a 3-2 vote.

Council was scheduled to hear details concerning recent charges made against Billie Biggerstaff, Tony Henry and Richard Hill, as well as several city administrators. Biggerstaff, Henry and Hill voted against the adjournment while Quay Throgmorton and Bob Monday voted for it.

Commerce resident killed in Sunday accident


Commerce – A long-time Commerce resident was found dead Sunday in what's been determined accidental death by mechanical asphyxia.

Officers were called to a residence in the 700 block of Harrison Street to perform a welfare check when they found 85-year-old Calogero Gibaldi beneath a collapsed awning.
