Quinlan – A father and son from Quinlan have been sentenced to federal prison for transporting stolen property and wildlife trafficking.

James Dewayne Anderton and Jimmie Wallace Anderton pleaded guilty in August to charges of interstate transportation of stolen property (ITSP) and interstate trafficking of wildlife under the Lacey Act.

They both were sentenced to more than two years in federal prison.

Greenville – Bond has been reduced for a suspect charged in an aggravated robbery at the home of an elderly West Tawakoni woman.

A second person is also alleged to have participated in the December incident.

A judge Thursday lowered Steven Glenn Rogers' bond to $50,000 personal recognizance from the previous $25,000 cash or surety bond.

– Filing for the municipal elections in May begins this weekend. Residents throughout the region will be voting for city council and school board members in a few months.

In Commerce three seats will become available. The Mayor's seat held by Quay Throgmorton, Place 2 held by Billie Biggerstaff and Place 4 held by Bob Monday. On the Commerce School Board, Places 1, 2 and 3 are up for voter approval. The seats are currently held by Bob McLeroy, Donna Tavener and Russell Armstrong, respectively.

Wills Point – An investigation into the seventh East Texas church fire so far this year shows it had been broken into shortly before the sanctuary was destroyed Thursday morning.

The ATF has ruled the blaze at the Russell Memorial Church in Wills Point suspicious.

Investigators are sifting through the debris and don't yet know if accelerants were used in the fire. It could take 2-3 days to positively determine if the fire was a result of arson.

Commerce – A lone suspect is sought following a robbery at a Commerce convenient store Wednesday. The incident took place just after 8 p.m. at the 909 Mart Convenience Store along Park Street.

Reports show a white male entered the store brandishing a small pocket knife and demanded money from the register, to which the clerk complied. No one was injured.

The suspect is said to be approximately 5'4" tall and was wearing a black mask over this face at the time.

Wills Point – The seventh church fire this year in east Texas destroyed the sanctuary of Russell Memorial United Methodist Church in Wills Point.

Van Zandt County Fire Marshal Chuck Allen told The Associated Press that no injuries were reported in Thursday morning's blaze.

Allen says the cause of the fire is sought. He says the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives has been summoned to the city.

ATF has said six church fires since Jan. 1 in east Texas are blamed on arson.

Commerce – The economy and tuition were among the topics addressed Thursday during the latest university community update at Texas A&M University-Commerce.

Provost Larry Lemanski, Vice President for Student Access and Success Mary Hendrix and President Dan Jones spoke during the event.

Spring, 2010 enrollment figures were up when compared to the previous year. Retention rates were also impressive, with 90 percent of freshmen returning from last year.

Greenville – Two Greenville men receive jail and probation time after pleading guilty to a multiple charges involving a drive-by shooting in the city last May.

Demarkus Terral Nelson and Darius Terrell Starling entered guilty pleas last month to six counts of deadly conduct.
