Commerce – Two win streaks for Dallas teams come to an end as the Mavericks fall to Utah and the Stars get edged by the Avalanche; A&M-Commerce senior guard Britney Jordan has picked up more honors, being named the WBCA's Player of the Month; and contract talks have broken down between the Texas Rangers and pitcher Ben Sheets after a physical returned bad news.
West Tawakoni – Charges have been dropped in an area stabbing case. Prosecutors have dropped an aggravated assault charge filed against Christopher Scott Carson, of Rockwall, in connection with a reported stabbing in West Tawakoni. Carson was indicted by the Hunt County grand jury in January 2008 on one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Hunt County – Several areas in south Hunt County were damaged following two fires Wednesday morning.
Hunt County Sheriff's Lt. Brian Alford said deputies were dispatched to a call at a home in West Tawakoni at around 2 a.m. where the homeowner of a trailer home was found putting out a fire with a water hose. Alford says the home burnt completely to the ground. Deputies with the fire department remained on scene until the homeowner was able to extinguish the flames. No injuries were reported.
