Commerce – After a successful fall class, the spring class of Healthy Kids from A to Z will begin January 19 at 10:00 AM at the Northeast Texas Children's Museum. Classes will continue through the spring, and the last class will be March 9, 2011.
Patti Peron, one of the class leaders commented about the fall classes, "The children were absolutely delightful. I think we made some progress in preparing them to live a healthy lifestyle."
Paris – Paris Junior College's presence brings a $95.3 million economic impact to the service area including Lamar, Delta, Hunt, Hopkins and Red River counties, according to a study recently completed for the college. The study looks at both economic contributions and return on investment.
Greenville – Questions are still being asked concerning the May 2009 flooding of a Hunt County Sheriff's vehicle.
Hunt County Judge John Horn says he's filed a report with the Texas Risk Management Board amid recent news of the incident. The Board will now decide whether to proceed with an investigation from an insurance standpoint.
Greenville – 33-year-old Tracy Nelson was pronounced dead at the scene. According to State Troopers, she failed to maintain a single lane of travel.
Nelson's pickup she was driving reportedly left the southbound lane of FM 2101. She then appeared to have steered sharply to get back onto the highway, but the truck went into a side skid, hit a fence and then a telephone pole.
