Commerce – A Commerce woman is sentenced to jail after pleading guilty to a reported theft from Brookshire's grocery.
Peggy Sue Billou entered the plea Wednesday to a lesser charge of assault causing bodily injury, a Class C misdemeanor. Under a plea bargain arraingment, she was sentenced to 30 days in the Hunt County Jail with 30 days credit for time served.
Caddo Mills – The City of Caddo Mills has unanimously approved the hiring of Michael Jump as its new city manager.
Jump most recently served as city manager of Runaway Bay in Wise County. He replaces Interim City Manager Ed Locker, who had been serving at the post for nearly four months following the termination of Manual Leal in mid-June.
Jump will assume duties as Caddo Mills City Manager beginning November 16.
Sulphur Springs – The City of Sulphur Springs plays host to the US Army Band this Saturday on the downtown square.
The Washington DC - based "Volunteers" will perform a free concert, beginning at 2 p.m. The program is geared to appeal to the entire community and will feature a blend of American music, including country, oldies, classic rock, rhythm and blues and patriotic.
The performance follows the last Sulphur Springs farmers market for the season, which is held along Main Street.
