Greenville – There was some frustration in Greenville Wednesday over the EPA's pace in cleaning up the former ESCO manufacturing plant in the Ardis Heights area.
During a public forum, Carlos Sanchez, chief of the EPA's Arkansas-Texas superfund section, explained that there is a lot more to come in the process, which is now expected to take another three years to complete.
Greenville – Electric rates for Greenville residents are expected to rise, as GEUS plans to raise its base electric rate for the first time in its history.
The board of trustees is expected to approve the upcoming fiscal year budget Thursday.
The proposed budget includes bond sales for two capital improvement projects. The board has also passed a resolution to issue up to $30 million in debt to help pay for a new power plant and consumer service center.
