Mesquite – The Texas A&M University-Commerce department of curriculum and instruction will host its sixth annual graduate orientation on Wednesday, Sept. 22 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the university's Metroplex Center in Mesquite.
Bonham – A six year prison term is ordered for former Fannin County tax assessor Pamela Sweet, who was arrested for a DWI twice within a five week period last year.
Sweet will be eligible for parole in 18 months. She was arrested on a DWI charge in March, 2009. After resigning from her duties in July, 2009, she was again arrested following a one-car accident later that month. Sweet admitted to having consumed a large amount of alcohol and to taking prescription medication earlier in the day.
Commerce – The Commerce ISD will conduct its first meeting tonight in its new board room, formerly the A.C. Williams Cafeteria at 3315 Washington Street.
Students in grades 3-5 now inhabit the new A.C. Williams along Culver Street, which opened last fall.
Since then, crews with Commerce ISD have been renovating the old facility to house offices for central administration, Tri County Shared Services, food service and facilities for the Boys & Girls Club.
