BJ Laudermilk

Benjamin, “BJ” Laudermilk, an aspiring play-by-play announcer, is a graduate of Rockwall High School and a current Radio and Television student at Texas A&M-Commerce.  He began his sports broadcasting career as an on-air personality with his high school’s broadcasting team.  He has been the walk-up announcer for his high school baseball team, the announcer and clock operator for middle school football teams, and most recently, was the “voice” of the Rockwall High School Orange Wave band.

 BJ was a recipient of one of the Texas Broadcast Education Foundation’s scholarships and is a 2016 South Central Broadcasting Society grand prize award winner.  He has been with 88.9 KETR since November, 2015.  He lives in Rockwall where he enjoys watching baseball and football and spending time with his family.

After a nearly three-hour lightning delay before the game even began, the no. 8 Texas A&M University – Commerce football team headed home from Odessa late Saturday night/early Sunday morning with a 58-21 win over UT Permian Basin in a game that was called after three quarters. At 12:30 Sunday morning, as the teams lined up to pick up play late in the third quarter, the game headed for another weather delay. After some deliberation, the teams, the referees, and the Lone Star Conference agreed to end the game with what ended up being the final score.

After a heartbreaking loss last week, the no. 9 Texas A&M University-Commerce football team picked up a critical rebound win on the road 38-24 over Western New Mexico University.

The Lions (6-1, 4-1 Lone Star Conference) had struggles with the Mustangs (2-5, 2-4 LSC) throughout the entire game, but were able to seal the win with an 8-yard touchdown pass from Luis Perez to Richard Cooper with 2:48 left.
