Trial of Hunt County murder suspect begins this week

GREENVILLE - Jury selection begins Monday in the 2009 murder of a Caddo Mills man.

Randal Douglas Smith is currently free on bond. He’s pleaded not guilty to the shooting of Gregory Poteet, who was found dead inside a pickup truck along CR 2632 in September, 2009.

Smith was originally reported to have told investigators that Poteet committed suicide. But authorities would later find evidence they believe links Smith to the murder.
