Reporter, host of 'All Things Considered'

Daniel was born and raised in Commerce, TX, and has been a life-long listener of 88.9 KETR. After listening to ‘The Art of Sound’ with Mark Chapman as a child, he enjoyed the thought of being able to broadcast across NE Texas.  He is now a Radio/Television student at Texas A&M University-Commerce and hopes to continue his work in radio after he graduates. He currently can be heard as the host of ‘All Things Considered’, ‘Movie Picks with Alice Reese’ and ‘The Morning Bell’.

Commerce ISD amping up security measures with technology

Commerce Independent School District will soon be making their campuses more secure using technology.

Throughout the coming weeks, workers will begin installation of a buzzer system at the front entrances of each campus. These systems will be equipped with two-way video/audio connection to the front office, allowing campus staff to see and speak with the person at the door, while still being at the safety of his/her desk.

Thousands lose electricity

Despite successful repairs in some areas, hundreds of Northeast Texas residents remain without power following Friday's ice storm.

Much of the region - including Commerce, Sulphur Springs, Paris and Bonham - is served by Oncor Electric Delivery. More than 2,500 Oncor employees and contractors have arrived in Texas to to enact emergency repairs.

"We have our employees and outside utilities and contractors positioned across our service territory, prepared to respond as soon as possible," said Oncor chief operating officer Jim Greer.

Freezing rain possible through Sunday

Ice accumulations varied from 1 to 3 inches over the region.

While the bulk of this weekend's ice storm has already impacted the region, sub-freezing temperatures and a chance for wintry precipitation will continue through Sunday.

Friday night, a break in cloud cover should result in very cold overnight low temperatures, with thermometer readings expected in the mid-teens. Winds out of the north around 10-15 mph, gusting to 20, could result in wind-chill values in the single digits to low teens.
