Operations Manager

As KETR Operations Manager, Kevin Jefferies is responsible for making sure you hear what you’re supposed to be hearing on FM 88.9 and  Since 1998, KETR listeners have heard Kevin in multiple roles.  Kevin also has many behind the scenes responsibilities, including the supervision of student broadcasters.  Kevin is a graduate of the Radio-Television program at Texas A&M University-Commerce.  A nearly lifelong resident of northeast Texas, Kevin is an alum of Ford High School in Quinlan.

A&M-Commerce Homecoming today

Today is Homecoming for A&M-Commerce, with activities scheduled all day.  KETR will be set up at the Tailgate Party that starts at 11am east of the new Music Building.  The party lasts until 2pm and live coverage of the game vs Angelo State begins at 1:30pm with JP Heath and Brock Callaway.

Commerce man charged for kidnapping and more

A Commerce man charged in connection with an alleged domestic violence kidnapping last week decided to skip a Thursday bond hearing.  Christopher Bernard Alex is being held in custody at the Hunt County Jail in lieu of a total of $45,000 bond on one count each of kidnapping- family violence, abandoning and endangering a child, evading arrest, and unlawful restraint.   A hearing had been scheduled for Thursday, but no action was taken as Alex refused to come to court.  No new hearing date has been scheduled.  Alex previously served time for a 2003 armed robbery.  He was arrested following a

Man still faces lifetime in prison

Multiple indictments for indecency and  and aggravated sexual assault of a child filed against a Terrell man have been dismissed.   But Charles Duane Mayo Jr. still faces a life sentence for allegedly setting a child on fire.   Charles Duane Mayo Jr was scheduled to enter pleas to multiple charges yesterday, about a month after a Kaufman County woman, Misty Laverna Dale Mayo, was sentenced to hundreds of years in prison on the same charges.

Missing Girl Remembered

A missing Greenville girl will be remembered this weekend.  A ceremony is scheduled in Greenville Sunday afternoon for a local woman who went missing as a teenager more than ten years ago.  Balloons will be released in remembrance of Sara Kinslow during the event starting at 3pm Sunday at 3916 Pine St. in Greenville.  Kinslow was 14 when she disappeared on May 1st2001 near Greenville Middle School.

Plane makes emergency landing in Wolfe City pasture

The Hunt County Sheriff’s Department is reporting an emergency landing of an aircraft in a field west of Wolfe City.  A call of a possible plane crash was received just before 9am Thursday.  The Sheriff and Wolfe City Police responded to the call and determined the aircraft had engine problems and had to make an emergency landing in a pasture along FM816 west of Wolfe City.

The pilot was identified as Tommy Spradlin with Darrell Reed as the passenger.  No injuries were reported.

Skate Park to again be addressed in Commerce

Commerce – A group of Commerce citizens are again to appear before the City Council Tuesday night, seeking a resolution of support for the creation of a Skate Park at Centennial Park. Council will also consider matching a portion of the group's initial funds raised.

The idea for the Skate Park was presented to council last month by Barbara Lenington, and her 15-year-old son Hunter. At the time, the two had received signatures from 745 residents who supported the idea.
