Petty Officer 2nd Class Matthew Young, an aviation boatswain’s mate from Commerce, Texas and 2009 graduate from Commerce High School, is serving on one of the world’s largest warships, the U.S. Navy aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75).

Operation 'Cold Spell' nets 23 defendants in jail

23 defendants have been taken into custody and are facing charges ranging from Manufacturing and Delivery of Marijuana, Manufacturing and Delivery of a Controlled Substance and Fire Arm Smuggling.

On Thursday, Mar. 6. shortly before 6 a.m., through a combined law enforcement effort, officers from the Commerce Police Department, Texas A&M Police Department, Hunt and Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office and the Sulphur Springs Police Department hit the streets in search of individuals wanted on charges of Manufacturing and Delivering of Narcotics and two for Fire Arm Smuggling.

KETR to participate in FEMA Emergency Alert project

The Federal Emergency Management Agency is working with a number of NPR stations throughout the gulf region to provide information to the deaf and hard-of-hearing.

The Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS’s) Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) today announced a cooperative pilot project with National Public Radio’s (NPR’s) technology research and development group, NPR Labs, to demonstrate the delivery of the first-ever, real-time emergency alert messages to people who are deaf or hard-of-hearing in five Gulf states.
