DALLAS - Charges are not expected to be filed in the case of a Fannin County toddler that was hit by a lawn mower and suffered partial dismemberment last week.

The incident occurred Friday afternoon in Ivanhoe. Sheriff Donnie Foster tells the Paris Newsthat the investigation is continuing in the case of the 18-month-old boy who has lost part of his leg and most of his arm.

Reports indicate the child had been riding the lawnmower with his mother earlier in the day, but just prior to the accident he had been playing in the yard while the child’s mother continued to mow.

He remains in a Dallas hospital.

KXII-TV had first reported the incident, indicating that the mother was trying to avoid an object when the child ran up behind the mower and was struck.
