27 nabbed in drug busts

Northeast Texas – Twenty-seven people from all around the area are in federal custody for alleged methamphetamine distribution and possession. Indictments were triggered by an investigation begun by Paris Police and the Red River Valley Drug Task Force. The ATF was contacted and the case eventually went to the U.S. Attorney's office for prosecution.

Eight suspects is Paris and four in Hunt County were arrested last week. 15 suspects were already in custody. Paris Police, the Lamar and Hunt County Sheriff, Red River Valley Drug Task Force, DPS, the U.S. Marshall's office and the ATF participated in the arrests.

Federal drug charges usually lead to 10 years or more in federal prison.
