911 system upgrade planned, alternative numbers available if needed

GREENVILLE - The Greenville Police Department will undergo a 911 telephone system upgrade on Wednesday and Thursday.

According to a release from the city, although the process should be seamless, alternative telephone numbers will be available.

Should citizens trying to reach the Police Department at 903-457-2900 receive a continuous ringing with no answer or dead air they can instead dial 903-408-7011 or 903-457-2929. These telephone numbers will be monitored in case issues arise during the phone system conversion.

Should the Emergency 911 system be affected, calls will be routed through the Commerce Police Department. The switch to the new system should not cause a loss of service, and this is strictly a precautionary measure.
