A.C. Williams Elementary 65% complete

By Scott Harvey

Commerce – The new A.C. Williams Elementary School in Commerce continues to take shape, as crews are just a few months from projected completion.

The $14 million structure is now 65% complete and even slightly under budget. That's according to Claycomb Associates and W.B. Kibler Construction Company, who presented the progress report to the CISD School Board Monday night.

The recent rainfall did play havoc on construction crews, but only for a few days. Contractors are now beginning to install the masonry around the gymnasium and cafeteria dining area.

The new facility, located across from the Commerce Middle School on Culver Street, will house third through fifth graders. Completion is expected prior to the beginning of the 2009-2010 school year.
