A.C. Williams project assessed Monday

By Scott Harvey

Commerce – The Commerce School Board has given authorization toward the next phase of the new A.C. Williams Elementary School project. Board members Tuesday gave architects with Claycomb Associates the go ahead to proceed with the completion of contract documents. An official with the company said Monday plans are 95% complete, and expects full completion by March 3.

The School District has hired a construction management group to then seek bids for each of the projects components, such as electricity and plumbing. Bids could be awarded by as early as mid-March, with groundbreaking expected shortly there after. The New A.C. Williams Elementary School will be located across from the Commerce Middle School on Culver Street.
