By Scott Harvey

Commerce – A multiple vehicle accident in Commerce leaves three hospitalized.

The accident occurred at 8 a.m. Friday, as Ricky Romans, of Commerce, was traveling westbound on Culver St. in a Dodge Dualie truck, and had stopped to turn left at the intersection of West Neal Street.

A Ford Taurus, which was believed to be traveling at a high rate of speed westbound, had entered the turn lane and tried to go around the truck, but clipped the back of it, sending the Taurus into the eastbound inside lane where it struck a Chevy Silverado head on.

The driver of the Silverado, Nancy Stewart, of Commerce, was taken away by ground ambulance to Presbyterian Hospital in Greenville, as well as Andrew Forest, of Desoto, the passenger in the Taurus. The driver of the Taurus, Frederick Williams, also of Desoto, was flown out by air ambulance to Parkland Hospital in Dallas due to head and leg injuries, according to Commerce Police.

Both Forest and Williams are students at Texas A&M University-Commerce.

Rowans, the driver of the Dualie, was uninjured. No word on the status of the three injured, although none of the injuries were believed to be life-threatening.
