Accident kills three family members, injures one

By Scott Harvey

Titus County – Two Dallas-area educators and their one-year-old son were killed following a traffic accident over the weekend in East Texas.

Saturday's wreck also left the family's three-year-old son injured. State Troopers report their vehicle slammed into the back of an 18-wheeler parked on the side of Interstate 30 near the 174 mile marker near Cookville.

Pronounced dead at the scene was 30-year-old Leah Eason. Authorities say her husband, 30-year-old James and their one-year-old son Luke died at Titus Regional Medical Center. Three-year-old Jace was flown to Children's Hospital in Dallas where he was listed in stable condition at last report.

Leah Eason was assistant principal at Florence Black Elementary School in the Mesquite ISD. Her husband taught fifth-grade at B.J. Smith Elementary, also in Mesquite. They lived in Rockwall.
