Accident victim recovering following surgery

By Scott Harvey

Campbell – Commerce resident Tanner Bryant Burnett is recovering from multiple broken bones sustained in an accident Thursday night near Campbell that killed one.

Burnett underwent surgery for about eight hours Friday at Parkland Hospital in Dallas. Killed in the wreck was 19-year-old Malorie Elise Bullock, of Sherman.

According to a dispatcher with the Department of Public Safety office in Sulphur Springs, the two Texas A&M University-Commerce students were traveling northbound on Highway 24/50 on a motorcycle when Burnett's bike left the roadway and hit a sign.

Both Burnett and Bullock were wearing helmets.

Unconfirmed reports to KETR indicate another vehicle may have pulled out in front of the motorcycle, forcing it to swerve. The DPS report indicated a one vehicle wreck, but according to the Commerce dispatch log from Thursday night, a white two door truck was involved in an accident at Highway 50 and Interstate 30. Commerce PD then attempted to locate the truck but was unable to do so.

The accident is currently under investigation by Trooper William Hanna, who was not available for comment as of Friday afternoon.
