Accountability rating at CHS improves

By Scott Harvey

Commerce – Preliminary TAKS scores are in, and it appears Commerce High School has escaped the title of "Academically Unacceptable."

The final results won't be made public until later this week, but according to A.C. Williams Elementary Principal Julia Robinson, all campuses will achieve at the very least a standard of acceptable.

She also indicated that A.C. Williams had a chance to once again be dubbed "Recognized" by the Texas Education Agency (TEA).

Last year, both A.C. Williams and Commerce Elementary received "Recognized" ratings, while Commerce Middle School was rated "Academically Acceptable." The district as a whole was given "Academically Acceptable" status.
