Alarm scares off would-be arsonist

By Scott Harvey

Titus County – Another possible arson attempt at an East Texas church is thwarted after a burglar alarm was triggered, apparently scaring off the subject.

Titus County authorities are now searching for a man caught on videotape outside the First Baptist Church taking off his shirt and changing into another. He was then filmed tying a white cloth or piece of clothing around his nose and mouth.

Investigators believe the suspect may have been trying to burglarize the church or possibly set it on fire. Nothing was taken or damaged.
