Alcohol at downtown Greenville events?

Greenville – There could be more places to drink alcohol in downtown Greenville on Sundays.

A vote to permit alcohol sales on city-owned lots downtown is scheduled during Tuesday's regular Council session, starting at 6 p.m. in the Municipal Building.

The Greenville Chamber of Commerce recently approached the Council about a proposal to allow sales of beer and wine during specified events, such as next month's Rally Round Greenville.

The City's current ordinance prohibits the consumption of alcohol on any city-owned property downtown.
