Alice enjoys 'Trainwreck'

This week on Movie Picks with Alice Reese, Alice reviews Trainwreck and Unexpected, and previews Southpaw and Paper Towns.

Trainwreck opened last week, and stars Amy Schumer and Bill Hader. Schumer also wrote the movie, which was directed by Judd Apatow. The rest of the cast fills out well with Tilda Swinton, Colin Quinn, and unexpectedly Lebron James. Alice really enjoyed the movie, and thought it was really fun.

Unexpected stars Colbie Smulders and Gail Bean. Smulders plays a teacher on the hunt for a new job after she finds out her school is closing down, then her life is thrown off track when she learns she's pregnant. Bean plays a student who finds herself pregnant, and the movie follows their unexpected bond. Anders Holm also stars as Smulder's boyfriend and father of her child. Alice really liked this movie. She thought that they felt like real people instead of characters in a Lifetime movie.

Alice didn't get to see Southpaw or Paper Towns this week, but she has heard some good things about both.

Southpaw is a gritty boxing movie starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Rachel McAdams. Boxer Billy Hope's life is completely destroyed and he has to find his way back to his family through the ring. Alice has heard wonderful things about this movie, and was very impressed by Gyllenhaal's transformation to a tough fighter.

Paper Towns is based on the book of the same name by John Green (remember him.. he wrote the tragic but beautiful The Fault in Our Stars).  Nat Wolffand Cara Delevigne star in this coming of age dramedy. Alice expects good things.
