This week on Movie Picks with Alice Reese, Alice reviews Monkey Kingdom, Ex Machina, and The Longest Ride.
Monkey Kingdom is the latest Disney Nature film. It is narrated by Tina Fey, and follows two Sri Lankan monkeys after a new tribe chases them out of their home. Alice thought the documentarians did a beautiful job, and she highly recommends this family-friendly movie.
Ex Machina is a sci-fi thriller, written and directed by Alex Garland. Alice says this sci-fi mystery delves deeper into the topic of robot autonomy than many other sci-fi movies. It stars Domhnall Gleason, Oscar Isaac, and Alicia Vikander as Ava.
The Longest Ride is Nicholas Sparks' 10th movie adaptation. It stars Scott Eastwood, Britt Robertson, and Alan Alda. Like The Notebook, it follows a split story, one in present-day and one in the past. Alice thought it showcased Scott Eastwood very well, but Britt Robertson just looked too young.
