Alice Reese: Bourne Series Reaches New Heights with Renner

If there were any concern that The Bourne Legacy with new lead role Jeremy Renner hampers the previous three, let our local movie critic Alice Reese put your mind at ease.

"I liked him very much. And the character is logical because in the other movies they did talk about how besides Jason Bourne there were a number of these other operatives," she said.

This latest film centers on a new hero whose stakes have been triggered by the events of the previous three films, which does require a certain level of background from the consumer.

Reese added, "In a way I liked Renner better than [Matt] Damon. I think he's got more feistiness and a kind of more vulnerability as well so I really like him."

Also this weekend, Will Ferrell assumes a Ricky Bobby-like portrayal in the comedy The Campaign, also starring Zach Galifianakis. The two battle for congressman in their North Carolina district in what proves to be "good political satire."

Alice also previews Hope Springs with Tommy Lee Jones and Meryl Streep.
