Our local movie critic Alice Reese raves about this weekend's debut of The Master, starring Philip Seymour Hoffman and Joaquin Phoenix.
"In an absolutely sensational comeback," according to Reese, Phoenix plays a World War II veteran who arrives home from war unsettled and uncertain of his future.
In Trouble with the Curve, Clint Eastwood returns to the big screen as an aging baseball scout whose daughter joins him on one last recruiting trip. "Clint is Clint, rough and curmudgeonly," but "It's a good watch," Reese says.
Alice also previews End of Watch. Jake Gyllenhaal stars as a Los Angeles cop in this film that comes from the writer of Training Day.
