Allocated TxDot funds to aid region roadways

By Scott Harvey

– The Texas Department of Transportation has approved nearly $2 billion in highway projects statewide, several of which will benefit the Northeast Texas region.

The projects are each aimed at increasing safety, rehabilitating pavement, expanding highway corridors and reducing traffic congestion.

A couple in Hunt County include more than $10.5 million for repairs along Interstate 30, from just east of Monty Stratton Parkway to the Hopkins County line; plus $5.85 million for repairs to State Highway 11, between Highways 24 and 34.

A number of projects were also approved for highways in Collin, Hopkins, Kaufman, Lamar and Rockwall counties.

A complete list of all area projects is available at http://txdot.gov/news/061-2009.htm.
