A&M-C Music Building on time and under budget

By Scott Harvey

Commerce – Construction on the new Music Building at Texas A&M University-Commerce is now about 15 percent complete, according to Music Department Head Chris White.

More importantly, the building is on time and on budget.

Two-thirds of all steel has been erected to date for the $29 million structure, which broke ground in February. About a year from now, crews from Byrne Construction are expected to be finished with the project.

The building promises to be a big marketing tool for prospective students. White says he's even had high school students, on campus this summer for camp, express their interest for A&M-Commerce due in part to the new building.

The 85,000 square foot facility will feature two tunable' performing venues: a concert hall seating 500 and a recital hall seating 75; plus a number of rehearsal halls, classrooms, and practice rooms.
