A&M-Commerce celebrates women's basketball

Hundreds gathered to honor the record setting season of the Texas A&M University-Commerce women's basketball team. Texas A&M University-Commerce President Dr. Keith McFarland congratulated the Lions women's basketball team for their record-setting season. The 2006-2007 team was the first in school history to reach the NCAA Division II Elite Eight. Over 40 team and individual records were set by the A&M-Commerce women's basketball team during the 2006-2007 season. Those accomplishments, highlighted by playing in the NCAA Division II Elite Eight, were honored April 26th during a community celebration.

Players and coaches were presented framed certificates by President Dr. Keith McFarland. The team reciprocated by giving Dr. McFarland an autographed basketball. Commerce Mayor Sheryl Zelhart read a proclamation, and Dr. McFarland noted that proclamations were also given by the Texas House and Texas Senate.
