A&M-Commerce dedicates Science Building

Commerce – Dedication of the new Science Building on the A&M-Commerce campus is set for Tuesday of next week. The new $28 million, 110,000 square foot is the first purely academic building to be built on the A&M-Commerce campus in nearly 30 years.

Dedication ceremonies will begin at 10:30 Tuesday morning. Keynote speaker is retired Air Force Col. Loren J. Shriver. Shriver was selected by NASA as an astronaut in 1978, and is a veteran of three space flights. He commanded the 1990 Space Shuttle crew that deployed the Hubble Space Telescope.

Guided tours of the Science building will be gin at 8:30 Tuesday morning. The state-of-the-art planetarium will feature brief showings every 15 minutes.

The Science Building houses the planetarium and three academic departments physics, biological and environmental sciences, and chemistry.
