Commerce, TX – Texas A&M University-Commerce interim Provost Frank Ashley is returning to College Station. The A&M System Board of Regents Friday approved Dr. Ashley's appointment as Vice Chancellor of Academic and Student Affairs for the entire system.
A&M-Commerce President Dr. Keith McFarland said it was "a tribute to Dr. Ashley that Chancellor Mike McKinney, after consulting with people throughout the System, sought him out and actively recruited him for the Vice Chancellor position."
Dr. McFarland went on to say it "is a bittersweet moment for the University because we are pleased that Dr. Ashley will be leading the entire academic and student affairs activities of all the A&M universities and Health Science Center, yet we truly regret that he will be leaving" Commerce. "Since Dr. Ashley moved into the Provost's position last July, he had done an outstanding job of leading our academic and student endeavors", added Dr. McFarland.
Before taking the interim Provost duties, Dr. Ashley was Dean of the College of Education and Human Services. He came to Commerce nearly three years ago from A&M-College Station. He will remain in his Commerce position through commencement on May 12th.
