A&M-Commerce names Interim Provost <BR>and Interim Associate V-P

Commerce, TX – Dr. Mary Hendrix has been named as Interim Provost and Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs at A&M-Commerce. And Dr. Hendrix has announced the appointment of Dr. Sharon Chambers as Interim Associate Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs. Both will begin their new duties May 14th.

Dr. Hendrix has been serving as Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs since 2002. Hendrix has also served on the Commerce ISD School Board for 18 years until stepping down in 2004, when she was named Honorary Distinguished Commerce Citizen by Mayor Sheryl Zelhart.

Dr. Hendrix earned her bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees from East Texas State and A&M-Commerce. In addition to various teaching and administrative duties at A&M-Commerce, she has also held various roles in the Commerce and Cumby school districts.

This is Dr. Hendrix's second interim appointment at A&M-Commerce. From 2002-2004 she was Interim Associate Vice-President for Academic Affairs.

Dr. Chambers was the Assistant Dean of the College of Education and Human Services (COEHS) at A&M-Commerce. She also co-chaired the Faculty Development Committee and has expertise with the IDEA system and teaching/learning.
