A&M-Commerce picks up first win of season

Commerce – The A&M-Commerce Lions picked up their first win of the season this weekend, stunning Midwestern State 27-25. The Lions took a 20-6 lead at the half and maintained the comfortable lead with a 27-12 advantage going into the 4th quarter. But the Midwestern State Indians rallied in the 4th with scoring drives of 80 and 41 yards, bringing the score to 27-25, with the Lions stopping a two point conversion that would have tied the game.

Midwestern State had one final chance to take the win, but failed on a 35 yard field goal attempt with 3:12 left in the game, letting the Lions run down the clock and notch their first victory of the season. The victory puts the Lions at 1 win and 2 losses for the season.

The Lions hit the road next Saturday to face Abilene Christian for a 6pm match up.
