A&M-Commerce Senior Lends Voice to Animated Series

Some college students have a hard time balancing the load between their studies and their social life, but one student at Texas A&M University-Commerce manages to make the grades, raise a family, preach the word, and still find time to chase his dreams.

Cleo Hayden Jr. realized a lifelong dream of having his voice featured as animated characters, when he recorded lines that are used on the series Deadman Wonderland, airing Saturday nights during Cartoon Network's anime "Toonami" block of programs. Popular imports from Japan are overdubbed to English in part at Funimation's Flower Mound, Texas headquarters.

Details of Cleo's busy life and his voice acting debut are contained in Matt Meinke's audio interview.

Born in Dallas, Texas, Matt moved to the Sulphur Springs area in 1990 and settled in Commerce shortly thereafter. Having dreamed of working in radio since childhood, he began working at KETR while taking Radio-Television courses at Texas A&M University-Commerce in 1993. Matt has transitioned from a part-time worker and pupil of KETR, to the station’s Chief Announcer/Producer and supervisor of student broadcasters. A familiar voice of 88-9 KETR, Matt has hosted such shows as The Late Nite Lion, and can currently be heard as host of Notably Texan.
