A&M-Commerce student files for Council

By Scott Harvey

Commerce – A student at Texas A&M University-Commerce is seeking a spot on the Commerce City Council.

David Hit filed last week for the position of Council Place 3. A 20-year-old junior, Hit is a Construction Science major at A&M-Commerce.

According to Commerce City Secretary Marty Cunningham, Hit is the only person to file so far. Filing continues now through March 9 at the City Secretary's office at Commerce City Hall Downtown.

The filing by Hit marks the second straight year a student at A&M-Commerce has filed for a position on the Council. Last year, Honor's Student Russell Lutes was defeated by Bob Monday for Council Place 4.

Place 1 incumbent Tony Henry and Place 3 incumbent Richard Hill have yet to announce whether they'll be seeking re-election.
