A&M-Commerce women put out of LSC Tournament

By Kevin Jefferies

Commerce – The A&M-Commerce women's basketball team came up short in the Lone Star Conference Championship Tournament Friday, falling to West Texas A&M 64-58. The Lions posted a nine point first half lead, but saw that lead chipped away in the final minutes of the second half, as West Texas mounted the comeback and secured the victory. The Lady Buffs went on to win the LSC Crown, joining the men in the victory for a sweep by West Texas A&M, as both men's and women's teams won their respective championships.

Despite being knocked out of the LSC Tourney, the Lions still had a chance to make the NCAA playoffs. But A&M-Commerce was left out of any brackets as announcements came yesterday. Four women's teams from the LSC made the South Central Regionals. West Texas, Northeastern State, Angelo State, and Tarleton State, a team the Lions beat in the LSC Tournament, were all named to playoff spots.
