COMMERCE - Due to a water leak in the basement of Binnion Hall, the building will be closed Thursday, April 26 so that repairs can be made. Classes for the day have been cancelled.
After all water is pumped from the basement, crews will assess if any electrical repairs need to be made. According to David McKenna, assistant vice president for facilities & support services, an update on the status of the repairs will be sent out Thursday afternoon.
At this moment, standard electrical power and all water lines to the building have been shut off.
Binnion Hall is one of the oldest buildings on campus, and is situated at the original campus entrance, Education Drive and Monroe St. It's home to KETR's studios, and as a result of this minor calamity, there is a chance that some regularly-scheduled and promoted programming may be affected. Any changes will be posted as updates to this story.
A backup generator is currently supplying power to both University Police and KETR.
